It’s more a matter of faith than evident truth and faith alone is sufficient for one who is devoted, but it may be nice to know that Sadhubaba, a maha yogi, did not leave the earthly plane after shedding his mortal body. Sadhuababa is not under the sway of nature and could have continued residing in his physical frame for as long as he wanted, nor is he under the command of nature to leave the mortal plane. He still lives among us, though unseen, but materializing himself at times in front of his devotees.
One such incident is about my father, Mr. Rajendra Prasad, who got involved in a minor accident with a rickshaw. Upon colliding with my father’s car, the rickshaw rolled over, taking the rickshaw-puller along with it. A crowd had started gathering. My father got out to see what had happened, but as soon as he got out, he heard a bearded sadhu shout out to him from the other side of the road. He said, “Why are you getting out? It’s not your fault. Drive away.” My dad, somewhat disoriented, followed the advice and drove off. It took him a while, but as he looked back on the incident that had transpired in a flash, he realized that the bearded sadhu was none other than Sadhubaba himself, who had materialized himself at the spot to protect him from the crowd which could have turned unruly given the situation.
My mother, Nalini Srivastava, had also seen Sadhubaba appear before her when she called upon him in a very desperate situation, details of which are given in her testimonial. Many more such incidents of devotees being saved miraculously and helped in very intractable situations swear to Sadhubaba appearing to them.
If one is a keen observer, one may notice Sadhumaa’s image in Kolkata Ashram to be anointed with vermillion. It’s because she continued to dress up as a woman whose husband is living, even after Sadhubaba was gone. In response to people questioning her, she would say.”Sadhubaba is still here; I can see him”. Of course, she, because of her purity and devotion to Sadhubaba, could witness him when others couldn’t.
On the day Sadhubaba left his mortal body, Sadhumaa, who was visiting a devotee, was brought back to the Kolkata ashram, and she, too, was weeping, as were all assembled devotees. After some time, she became calm and told everyone that their father had not left the place. She saw him near the Ganges, doing his usual ‘sadhana’. Sadhubaba being God incarnate, has no death. Sadhumaa saw Sadhubaba in his ethereal body several times after his demise. Nobody knows how many times she had seen Sadhubaba.
Our lack of purity stops us from seeing Sadhubaba the way Sadhumaa could see him, but he’s always among us, guiding and protecting us. Jai Sadhubaba!! Jai Sadhumaa!!
